As you all know, I've been diggin' in the dirt around here making my flower beds pretty. Some of our bigger projects have come to a halt, though, as the septic issue (which is now, thankfully, resolved) took a good chunk of our landscaping moolah! heeheehee! It's fine, it gives us more time to plan and get ideas for what we will do. I've still enjoy tending to what we have planted, though. The Little Boy even gets in on it and helps water in the evenings. Good times!
Also, since my last post, The Little Boy had his surgery follow up at the Kiddie Hospital in our Capital City. The nurse practitioner said things looked good. Yay! But can I ask all my bloggie friends a favor? After we met with the NP, we had an appointment with his audiologist. The Little Boy failed three hearing tests. Three. And she tried each test numerous times. Let me tell ya, friends, this mamma's heart sunk. She said the hearing in his left ear seems to be okay, it's the right ear that has trouble. She couldn't even give me a percentage of what or if he could even hear anything. So that's what I'd like you all to pray about. We will follow up again in November and they will re-evaluate his hearing. My Little Boy is perfect, whether he can hear or not, but I sure pray his ears and hearing are okay. I appreciate the prayers. Thank ya!
Moving on . . . my Aunt JJ, The Little Boy and I went 'down home' as my Papa would say on Memorial weekend! Actually, just on Sunday of that weekend. It was a bittersweet trip. Every Memorial weekend, my Papa's siblings (and parents when they were living) gather in their hometown and have a reunion. It was always the highlight of my summer as a kid. I LoVeD seeing all my extended family and playing with my cousins. This was my first trip down there since my Papa passed. It was so good to see everyone, but hard, too, because my Papa wasn't there. I miss him so much. I know he would have loved taking The Little Boy down there and showing him where he grew up.
Me and The Little Boy on beautiful Lake Cumberland.
I've also tried to get back into doing crafts. This proved to be hard when The Little Boy was smaller, but now, he's a little more independent. My mother-in-law and I used to craft a lot together. We saw trays similar to this(see photos below) at an antique store. We decided to try our hand at it and we were pleased with our results. I made a super cute one that's hung in my kitchen and later, I made one for TLB. They are metal tray message boards. SuPeR CuTe!
This one has little magnets I made from small tiles.
I hung this one in my dining room. The center is painted with chalkboard paint. I like this scripture and it seemed appropriate for a kitchen or dining room.
Taste and see that the Lord is good! Psalm 34:8
And, another big change, The Deuce decided this weekend was the weekend we needed to change out the bumblebee theme in TLB's room. I was dragging my feet a bit in this area. Normally, I LoVe to change stuff around and redecorate. When it came to TLB's room, putting up the bumblebee stuff was another reminder he's not a baby anymore. *sniff sniff* So, I started to put away the bumblebees and put up the construction theme.
Bye bye, bumblebee!
Hello dump truck!
Now, this bedding is twin bed size. He still has a toddler bed. So I'll have to continue to use some of his bumblebee bedding until we get him a bigger bed. I just put the comforter on for the photo. I love the big picture and the decals. The decals are super neat because they are removable. I bought everything at Target. I love Target.
I suppose I should mention, The Deuce increased his deer hurd by one this weekend, too. We picked up his latest mount from the taxidermist this weekend. Oh yay.
Well friends, I'm so glad you stopped by. I love reading your comments and kind words about the blog! I really loved seeing an friend in the grocery I hadn't seen in a while, and she said she loved the blog and enjoyed reading it! Yay! Thanks, Tina!
It's hotter than hot today. As my dear friend, Paulett would say . . . we are one mile from the sun today! So, The Little Boy and I are off to the Splash Pad! Have a FaNtAsTiC SuMmEr!!!!!!
